Associate Director of Child IOP
Dr. Finis received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, IL. Prior to her graduate degree, she attended The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Dr. Finis specializes in individual, family, and group psychotherapy with children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. Her clinical experience has included working at a therapeutic day school/therapeutic high school, a partial hospitalization program, and a community mental health center. She delivers strengths-based, culturally competent, evidence-based techniques to clients and families. Techniques utilized include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, trauma-informed approaches, play therapy, as well as parent education and support.
Dr. Finis’ therapeutic approach is collaborative, warm, and encouraging. She firmly believes that involving caregivers in treatment is necessary to bring about change in a child’s life and in the family unit as a whole. In addition, she enjoys keeping therapy active, fun, and engaging with a strong emphasis on developing a trusting therapeutic relationship. Dr. Finis’ ultimate goal is to support children and adolescents in feeling safe and heard while simultaneously providing parents and caregivers with necessary support so they too can feel empowered.
