Clinical Coordinator of Adolescent Substance Use Track
Carolyn is a Licensed Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor who obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work from Loyal University Chicago. During her graduate studies, Carolyn pursued clinical opportunities at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, where she provided exposure response prevention therapy to individual patients diagnosed with one or more anxiety diagnoses to challenge and improve anxiety and stress tolerance. She also had the opportunity to complete an internship at the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago where she gained valuable experience with individual therapy and facilitated therapeutic groups for survivors of sexual assault. Carolyn also worked at Linden Oaks Hospital’s detox unit, where she provided counseling, crisis intervention and comprehensive case management. Carolyn’s post graduate experience consists of doing individual, family, and group therapy at Gateway Foundation, which specializes in providing support to individuals with chemical dependency. She is a clinically focused social worker with a strong commitment to empower and serve the needs of youth, adolescents, and adults; specializing in the substance abuse population, sexual assault survivors and those who suffer from mental health diagnoses. Carolyn thrives in promoting individual growth and social change by utilizing community organizations, clinical skills and interpersonal communication. She is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals and promoting social change. Carolyn’s goal as a therapist is to support her clients by using a client-centered and strength based approach to allow clients to feel empowered and motivated to create change in their lives.
