Child Group Therapist
Dr. Selwocka graduated with her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in the Study of Women and Gender Dominican University. Dr. Selwocka completed her doctoral internship at Illinois Youth Center- St. Charles and her post-doctoral fellowship at the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, where she worked with both pre-adjudicated and incarcerated adolescents. Her prior clinical training focused on working with children and adolescents in various therapeutic settings, including Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital, Metro Prep Therapeutic Day School and Will County Health Department. Her clinical experience includes providing trauma-informed individual, group and milieu therapy, as well as crisis management, psychological assessments and collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams.
Dr. Selwocka is passionate about working with children and adolescents and supports them in their healing by creating a safe space using compassion and unconditional positive regard. She encourages growth by building on individual strengths through the utilization of both CBT and DBT interventions while maintaining strong therapeutic relationships. Dr. Selwocka strives to be culturally mindful and tailors treatment to be developmentally appropriate and personal to each client.
