Young Adult/Adult Substance Milieu Therapist
Kelsey attended The University of South Dakota for both her Bachelors in Psychology and Addiction Studies and her Masters in Addiction Studies. During her field experiences, Kelsey developed a passion for working with transition-aged youth in a recovery Home setting, and providing the demographic with care geared towards their stage of development. Kelsey also became very interested in a Mindfulness-Based Sobriety curriculum and it’s combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing while working with adults in a Drug Court program setting. During her time as a fellow in NAADAC’s Minority Fellowship Program for Addiction Counselors, Kelsey was able to learn about providing culturally competent care to ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ community, and transition-aged youth during her last year in her Masters Program and leading up to her attendance at NAADAC’s annual conference in Houston, October 2018. Kelsey believes all clients deserve a supportive environment conducive to productive goal setting in a patient-centered style, with a foundation lying in therapeutic rapport.
