Primary Clinical Therapist
Dr. Prester earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago. Her clinical training focused on working with children, adolescents, and families in various therapeutic settings, including South Campus Therapeutic Day School, Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, and Advocate Illinois Masonic Pediatric Developmental Center. Dr. Prester completed her pre-doctoral internship with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, where she served on special education committees and student response teams and provided comprehensive psychological services to general education and special education students. Dr. Prester is skilled in providing individual, group, and family therapy, as well as crisis management, parent training and support, school consultation, and psychological assessment. She also has experience providing early childhood assessment and intervention services to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders.
Dr. Prester approaches treatment with children and adolescents from a systems perspective and believes it is paramount to involve the family and school in treatment when feasible. She utilizes a strengths-based, collaborate approach to treatment and believes strongly in providing evidence-based interventions and monitoring therapeutic progress. Therapeutic techniques commonly employed include cognitive-behavioral therapy, positive behavioral interventions, play therapy, and parent-child interaction therapy techniques.
