Dr. Khilanani, originally a native of Detroit, Michigan, graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then returned to the University of Michigan, his Alma Mater, and completed his residency training in General Psychiatry, where he received various honors and distinctions. He subsequently completed his Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, at the University of Chicago, where he served as Chief Fellow. For the past 3 years, he has been working at Compass Health Center as an Attending Psychiatrist, seeing patients of all ages, and as of September of 2013, Dr. Khilanani was accepted into the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis, to pursue training in Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychoanalysis, in order to broaden his education and experience in the art of therapy. Dr. Khilanani is board certified in General Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Khilanani’s broad areas of expertise and training enable him to apply a more integrative perspective when working with patients and their families. His areas of expertise include addiction, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, neuropsychoanalysis, developmental issues, and interpersonal resilience. Additionally, his personal background in musical training continues to feed passion into his clinical and research interests in creativity and resilience. It is within this context that Dr. Khilanani is able to appreciate and address the more nuanced aspects of subjective experience, interpersonal matters, and general life functioning.
