Compass Health Center is seeking Masters and Doctoral level Substance Use Therapists. We have openings for both experienced psychologists and clinicians with their CADC, as well as Masters level licensed clinicians interested in obtaining their CADC certification (please visit for CADC certification requirements). Openings are available for our Adult Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs in both our Northbrook, IL and Chicago, IL offices. The role consists of both group therapy and individual substance-based work (the division of these responsibilities is based on an applicant’s work experience and strengths).

We are seeking experienced clinicians with a passion for delivering evidence-based therapy to adults with a variety of mental health needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating skills, psychoeducation, and process therapy groups using CBT, DBT and ACT approaches
  • Facilitating skills and process therapy groups with a substance use focus
  • Providing information to clients community based substance use supports and other treatment programs in the area (as needed)
  • Assessing patients on daily basis for safety, ADLs, and mental status
  • Developing effective therapeutic group relationships that promote positive change in patients
  • Utilizing empirically supported interventions for presenting issues and diagnoses, including CBT, DBT, and psychoeducation
  • Providing individual therapy and safety checks with safety plan as needed
  • Creating and implementing new group curriculum, based on current milieu needs and presentation
  • Organizing and maintaining clinical group material to provide structure to curriculum
  • Communicating and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members on a daily basis to tack patient progress and refine treatment goals and step-down plans
  • Communicating patient progress, interaction and presentation to clinical staff
  • Performing prompt and consistent documentation of sessions
  • Completing discharges for patients discharging from the program
  • Participating in Compass-provided supervision (if needed toward licensure or certification), attending patient case consultations, and engaging in annual Compass-sponsored CEU lecture series to continually improve effective delivery of patient care

Preferred Requirements:

  • Have two years post master’s experience
  • Hold a CADC certification or are interested in/eligible for a CADC certification
  • Possess a core skill set of CBT and DBT
  • Hold the following licenses or certifications: LCSW, LCPC, MSW, LPC, LSW, MFT, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD
  • Have prior experience working in partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient program
  • Have prior experience treating the following:
  • Depression/mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Substance use disorders
